Students of all ages learn about the democratic process with ‘Student Vote’

Thousands of schools across the country, including Birds Creek Public School and Madawaska Valley District School are taking part in Student Vote Canada’s election program.  With Canadians heading to the polls in the federal election on Monday, nearly a million students will be doing the same.

Olivia Williams from Student Vote says the program helps bring democracy to life in classrooms.

“Student Vote is a free hands-on learning program that gives students the chance to experience the voting process by casting ballots for the official candidates. It’s designed to build civic literacy and foster democratic engagement in a fun and meaningful way…And right now we have more than 7,000 schools registered”.

Results of the student vote will be released after official polls close on election day on April 28.
