‘Community at its finest’: Friends for Dinner has record-breaking turnout

Co-organizer Kevin Taylor says that he estimates over 94 people were in attendance at last Sunday’s Friends for Dinner community meal.

Every week community members from all walks of life gather in pop-up red tents along the York River in downtown Bancroft to share a meal together.

“There was just enough food for everyone to feast!” said the organization in a social media post.

“We were so blessed with such amazing dishes. A big shout out to Joy Camp, as we would have run out completely without their generosity. Many new friends joined us tonight. We met so many new folks and had some great conversations.”

The group added that more tents may be needed as last weeks numbers meant there was an overflow to outside of the tents.

“This is community at its finest!” Taylor went on to note.

Friends for Dinner takes place every Sunday evening starting at 5 p.m., behind the IDA in Bancroft.
