In a surprise statement released Friday afternoon, education minister Todd Smith said he had made the “very difficult” decision to leave politics and accept a position in the private sector.
This comes after 12 years as a member of parliament and 6 years in Premier Doug Fords cabinet. He has served as Education Minister for the last year, replacing Stephen Lecce.
From 2011 to 2018 Smith was MPP for Hastings County.
Prior to his time in politics, Smith was a long-time radio personality on Moose FM’s predecessor CJNH in the days of Quinte Broadcasting.
