The Switchyard’s “Back on Track” fundrasier nearly doubles fundraising goal

The Switchyard in Bancroft started a two week fundraising campaign called “Back on Track” to replace the barbeque fundraiser they would normally host around this time of the year.

The goal for the fundraiser was $10,000, but $17,032.75 was raised with Managing Director of The Switchyard Kelsey Watts noting that money is still expected to flow in. “We’re so grateful to the people that felt the need to invest in the youth of Bancroft,” she says. Watts says what has been raised so far comes “very close” to covering their budget shortfall. “It truly gives us some much needed relief to our financial situation,” she adds.

Watts explains to the MyBancroftNow.com newsroom that they were looking to raise money to help with the general operations of their headquarters. “The money will go towards making sure the building can run and stay open,” she says. “A lot of it is administration cost so we can create that safe space where youth can come and know they are respected and loved.”

You can still donate by going to their website. “There’s lot of options for how you can donate,” Watts says.

While the building is closed now, Watts says they’re still planning and “dreaming” but they’re hoping to be able to open “soon.”
