The Frontenac OPP detachment began a manhunt on Sunday in response to a shooting and fire that was started in the Village of Parham shortly after 8:30 PM.
One person was treated for non-life threatening injuries at the scene.
When the officers arrived at the scene, a fire had been started at the residence, had begun to spread to an adjacent church. The OPP report “extensive damage” was done to the building.
The suspect was not found at the scene so a manhunt was started to look for him. Along with the Frontenac OPP, members of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, Canine Unit, Crisis Negotiators and Emergency Response Team responded. Bancroft’s Detachment Commander Sgt. Jeff MacKinnon tells the MyBancroftNow.com newsroom that included “eight or nine” Emergency Response Team members that were dispatched from the Bancroft detachment.
A 42-year-old man from Central Frontenac was arrested around 7:30 AM Monday morning at a residence in the Hartington area, which is south of Parham. The arrest was made without incident.
The investigation is on-going.
