Dorothy Gerrow officially takes seat on Hastings Highlands Council

Hastings Highlands Council is once again full.

That’s because Dorothy Gerrow was officially sworn in as Ward 1 Councillor Wednesday morning at the municipality’s council meeting.

Gerrow was asked to step into the role during a meeting last Thursday after herself and three other candidates were questioned by council. The seat was vacated after Frank Hickey was removed from the position for not filing a mandatory financial statement after the last municipal election.

Gerrow says she thinks she has a lot to offer council, as she’s regularly attended meetings since the term started in 2014. Hastings Highlands Mayor Vivian Bloom said at last week’s meeting that she looks forward to working with Gerrow because of her wealth of experience.
