Healthcare cuts focused on in Bancroft all candidates debate

Cuts to Bancroft’s hospital services were one of the topics discussed at last night’s all candidates meeting.

The four candidates in the riding of Hastings-Lennox and Addington gathered at the Royal Canadian Legion in front of a packed venue.  The event was sponsored by the North Hastings Economic Development Committee and the Bancroft and District Chamber of Commerce.

Incumbent Conservative candidate Daryl Kramp says his party has already increased transfer payments to the province to fund local healthcare.  Green Party candidate Cam Mather says focusing on preventative medicine will decrease healthcare costs in the future.  New Democratic Party candidate Betty Bannon says her party will invest in homecare.  Liberal Party candidate Mike Bossio says it’s about hiring the qualified health professionals that we need.
