Candidates talk infrastructure at Bancroft meeting

Our riding’s federal election candidates talked infrastructure at last night’s all candidates meeting in Bancroft.

It was a packed house at the Royal Canadian Legion as the four candidates that are competing for the Hastings-Lennox and Addington seat discussed issues impacting Bancroft.  The North Hastings Economic Development Committee and the Bancroft and District Chamber of Commerce hosted the event.  The organizations asked how the candidates would help rural municipalities like Bancroft pay for repairs to their crumbling infrastructure.

New Democratic Party candidate Betty Bannon says it’s about focusing on tourism infrastructure.  Liberal Party candidate Mike Bossio says the focus should be on investing in infrastructure for areas like affordable housing.  Incumbent Conservative candidate Daryl Kramp says his government has worked hard to put money in to infrastructure already with initiatives like the gas tax fund for municipalities.  Green Party candidate Cam Mather says his party would support initiatives like raising the corporate tax rate to help pay for repairs.
