Loyalist College is inviting community members to a free evening of ‘storytelling and inspiration’ with Terry Ryan, a former NHL first-round draft pick turned actor and best-selling author.
Ryan will be at North Hastings Highschool on May 1, sharing his journey from professional hockey player, to student, to the screen.
The college said when Ryan’s professional hockey career was cut short by injury, it marked the beginning of a bold new chapter.
Today, he is known for his role as Ted Hitchcock in Shoresy, the Hulu spinoff of Letterkenny, as well as for his stand-up comedy, podcast appearances and critically acclaimed book Tales of a First-Round Nothing.
“With humour and honesty, Ryan will reflect on perseverance, reinvention and the role that education played in shaping his second act.”
The Connect to Your Future event hosted by Loyalist aims to inspire students and community members to discover the possibilities of post-secondary education and how it can open doors to new careers.
Attendees can explore program options, learn about community-focused opportunities like Loyalist’s Summer Arts Experience, speak with Loyalist College advisors and apply to the college for free at the event.
It takes place May 1 from 6-7 p.m. at the North Hastings High School Gymnasium.
Doors open at 5 p.m.
You can reserve your tickets here. When completing your ticket registration, you’ll also have the chance to submit a question for Terry Ryan.
Selected questions will be answered live during the event.
