Live coverage of Ontario election: Hastings Lennox and Addington

Across Ontario, Premier Doug Ford was easily re-elected in his riding of Etobicoke Opposition Leader Marit Stiles of the NDP has been reelected in her seat of Davenport in Toronto, and Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner has retained his riding of Guelph. Ontario Liberal Party leader Bonnie Crombie is now projected to be defeated in her riding of Mississauga East Cooksville.

Conservative incumbent Ric Bresee has won his seat in our riding of Hastings Lennox and Addington. 

As of 10:30, following Bresee is Liberal Lynne Rigby in the second spot and NDP Jessica Zielke in third. 

MooseFM caught up with Bresee shortly after the win was called. He says he’s looking forward to advocating for his constituents.

9:45….Conservative incumbent Ric Bresee is projected to easily win in our riding of Hastings Lennox and Addington.

Provincewide at the PC’s are leading or elected in 79 ridings.

In Ontario 63 seats are needed for a majority government.

 

9:25… Polls closed just under half an hour ago.

The first results are coning in in Hastings Lennox and Addington

At just before 9:30 Conservative incumbent Ric Bresee leads comfortably over Liberal Lynne Rigby who holds the second place spot.

In 3rd is NDP Jessica Zielke and the 4th and 5th spots are taken by Ontario Party’s Derek Sloane and Mike Holbrook respectively

At approximately 9:10 CBC news projected a Doug Ford Majority

Polls closing in just under ten minutes…first results should be coming in soon

Polls close in about an hour across Ontario.

Almost 11 million people were eligible to vote in todays election.

In the running in our riding are PC incumbent Ric Bresee, Lynne Rigby of the Liberal party, NDP candidate Jessica Zielke, the green party’s Mike Holbrook, the New Blue Party’s Glenn Tyrell and the Ontario Party’s Derek Sloan.

And while we wait for those results to start roiling in,  we’re take a look back on the last election in Hastings Lennox and Addington.

In 2022 Progressive Conservative Ric Bresee won the election with 47.6% of the vote 18,129 votes NDP came in second in 2022 with 19% of the vote and 7, 258 votes

Liberals were a close third with 7055 votes and 18.5% of the share.
