Bay Day is on Saturday, rain or shine as the whole town celebrates.
Marcia Dillabough, one of the organizers, says it’s a great day to be in town.
“It’s the kick off to the summer season in Barrry’s Bay. It’s a big street festival, admission is free. The farmers market and other food vendors set up downtown right on Hwy. 60.”
Dillabough said businesses have sponsored live music from Odd Man Out. There are bouncy castles, face painting, a balloon artist, a vintage car show on the street and sidewalk sales featuring local businesses.
“It’s just a really fun day. It’s kind of ‘get out of hibernation’, walk the streets and have lots of fun stuff to do.”
Dillabough said last year’s Bay Day saw big numbers, partly because the event returned after COVID.
“Last year was the first post COVID Bay Day and it went really well. We had a great turn out even though it rained, and I think part of that was because we hadn’t had a Bay Day in a while. This year I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed that we’re going to have nice weather and I’m hoping to have even more people come out and enjoy the day. This is a rain or shine event, so no matter what, Bay Day happens.
Bay Day starts at 9 a.m. with road closures and vendor set up. Music starts at 10 a.m. A fashion show starts at noon and a talent show at 2:30 p.m.
The event wraps up at 4:30 and the road re-opens at 5 p.m.
