All Chris Houston is saying is, give a Canadian Peace Museum here in Bancroft a chance.
Houston, formerly worked for humanitarian groups overseas, before moving to this area.
He’s now on a mission to open a museum that would inspire visitors to keep working towards world peace.
“The peacefulness that we have in this nation, we shouldn’t take it for granted,” he says. “We should cherish it and respect it and work towards it.”
Houston has registered the planned museum as a non-profit and has a board of directors and website up. He’s now working to find a physical location for the museum, with hopes of opening in 2025.
Houston says the museum’s exhibits would be based on themes of equity, activism, community and environment.
He believes the museum would be a unique, new feature in the town and be well visited by the town’s many tourists.
He asks people who want to be involved to reach out to him, through his website and social media.
