Hastings County residents will see a 4.79 per cent increase to the county levy of their municipal tax bill.
County council passed its budget at a recent meeting. A report to council noted, the rate is under Ontario’s 2022 inflation rate of 6.8 per cent.
The report also says the County “continues to see an increase in demand for services, in an environment of escalating costs with provincial and federal funding that is not keeping pace with inflationary pressures.”
The tax increase allows for a $17.7 million budget, which allows the county to deliver numerous services, such as paramedic services, social services and economic development.
