All seven municipalities in North Hastings have lifted their total fire bans and moved into a daytime burn ban.
As of 7 PM on Friday, Bancroft, Hastings Highlands and Faraday, Wollaston, Tudor/Cashel, Carlow/Mayo and Limerick Townships will enter into a daytime burn ban.
That means no burning will be allowed between 7 AM to 7 PM until further notice. Campfires are allowed under the daytime burn ban for cooking and warmth. Bancroft’s Deputy Fire Chief Matt Musclow says if you are starting a campfire to use the drown, stir, drown method to make sure it’s fully out before you leave the area. No brush of large piles of wood debris or leaves are allowed to be burnt at this time.
“We’re urging everyone to use extreme caution if they have a fire of any kind,” Musclow says. “Conditions have loosed a bit, but we still want people to be safe.”
If you have any questions, reach out to your local fire department.
