Public Health offering “expanded instruction” to businesses as region prepare for stage three of re-opening

Hastings and Prince Edward Counties will move into stage three of the province’s re-opening plan on Friday and Public Health is working to ensure everyone is prepared.

They made face coverings mandatory to wear when indoors at commercial establishments last week, but are expanding on that with more businesses preparing to open up. Face coverings will also be mandatory to wear in all enclosed indoor spaces that are open to the public, effective 12:01 AM on Friday.

“HPEPH continues to recognize that certain individuals may be unable to wear or access a face covering,” Public Health says in a statement. “HPEPH does not expect establishments to request proof of exemption from these individuals.  HPEPH expects and requests the cooperation of employers, employees, and patrons, in ensuring that these instructions are carried out with respect and kindness.”

Public Health has added a FAQ section on its website to educate people on their mandatory mask policy.
