Public washroom at Riverside Park to be opened

The public washroom at Riverside Park will re-open on June 29th.

“We want to test all of our protocols and cleaning routine and see how staff is handling it before we open up Millennium Park,” Mayor of Bancroft Paul Jenkins says. He adds that signage will be put up at Millennium Park directing people to the Riverside Park bathroom.

The hold up in getting the public washrooms open was that no hot water was available at the facilities. Hot water tanks were ordered in late July and installed earlier this month at both public washrooms. Jenkins told the MyBancroftNow.com newsroom that the public washroom at Riverside Park was also undergoing renovations after it was vandalized.

Jenkins says the Town will not be re-opening other parks for the time being. He explains that the only parks open right now are ones with walking trails, which is why Churchill Park remains closed for the time being. He adds that you can stop in parks to sit under a tree for shade, which he says he saw a few people do over the weekend.

He calls what’s happening right now a “partial re-opening” of the parks. Jenkins says there’s no timeline available for when the local parks will be completely re-opened.
