$3,000 in fines has been given to two Ontario men for waterfowl baiting offences. Fenelon Falls resident Peter Handley pleaded guilty to putting out bait for waterfowl during a prohibited time and to hunting within 400 metres of where the bait had been placed. He was fined $1,000 for each offence. Bradford man Robert Ferguson has also pleaded guilty to hunting within 400 metres of the bait and was fined $1,000. The two men are also banned from hunting waterfowl for one year. The harvested ducks they shot were forfeited to the Crown, and the firearms that were seized will be returned after the fines are paid.
