HPEPH recognizing importance of oral health during April

Hastings and Prince Edward Public Health wants you to brush up on your child’s oral health.

As part of Oral Health Month, the local health unit will be joining in on a province-wide campaign to promote the importance of good oral health for a child’s growth and development. Program Manager Shelly Brown says oral health is important for a child’s self-esteem and overall well-being.

The health unit says there are small steps parents can take to help prevent dental issues, like limiting sugary snacks and drinks, teaching their kids to brush and floss properly, and regularly visiting a dentist. Brown says public health also offers free clinics to kids up to 17 years old to help maintain their oral health.

You can find out more about Oral Health Clinics or the Healthy Smiles Ontario program by calling Hastings and Prince Edward Public Health at (613) 966-5500. More information on the ‘Brush Up on the Facts’ campaign can be found by clicking here.
