North Kawartha residents will be able to have their well water tested for free starting tomorrow.
The township and Peterborough Public Health will be partnering up again this year to test water samples from homes and cottages in the community. The health unit will pick the samples up every Tuesday and Thursday in order to test them for bacteria and E.coli, which can cause you to get sick. Residents will receive a call or letter from the health unit once the tests are completed.
Manager of Environmental Health Programs Atul Jain says water quality changes over time, so it’s important to test your well water three to four times a year. Free well water sample kits can be picked up and dropped off at the North Kawartha township office at 280 Burleigh Street in Apsley.
