Bancroft Council is set to discuss how it will fill its currently vacant mayor seat.
This comes after Mayor Bernice Jenkins’ resignation took effect on Thursday.
Council’s options are appointing a current councillor or Bancroft resident to the role, or holding an election. Acting Mayor Paul Jenkins says council will likely appoint current councillors to the mayor and deputy mayor positions during a special council meeting on Monday. It will be held at 3:00pm at Bancroft’s Town Office.
The town has 59 days left to decide how it will move forward.
