MNRF wants ATV and ORV riders to help preserve natural environment

ATV and ORV riders using local trails on Crown land can help preserve the natural environment by following a few rules.

That’s the message from the Bancroft District of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. The MNRF says riders are allowed to use many trails and roads on Crown land, except those in provincial parks and nature reserves.

But, in order to help protect the natural environment, riders are asked to stay on existing trails, and pick up their litter and garbage. The MNRF also asks riders to avoid sensitive features like wetlands, streams, and wildlife habitats, and to not harm, kill, or collect any living organisms. It’s also good to wash your ATV after every use to help prevent the spread of invasive species.

The MNRF also reminds riders they need approval to build a trail or water crossing, or to hold an organized event like a race.
